Send a Survivor to the Antarctic!

By Stephen Fishbach   August 23rd, 2009 | 3:10 pm

Outwrite, outvoyage, outfreeze?

I've always been an adventure junkie. But that passion evolved into a way of life when I became runner-up on the most recent season of Survivor. Foraging for food, building fire, constructing shelter - even though I was freezing cold in Tocantins, Brazil, I learned how empty a 9/5 job in an office can be. Now I'm excited to swap the Brazilian highlands for Antarctic seascapes. I want to have some encounters at the end of the world.

What you can expect from me: I've been a freelance writer for MTV for about 5 years, so I know my way around a sentence and also how to keep things fresh and interesting. You'll get updates not just on ice floes, albatrosses and penguins, but also the strange birds on board the ship. How does the captain of the Lyubov Orlova start his day? Does he really put his long johns on one leg at a time?

I’m thirty years old, was born in Los Angeles and raised in New York, but I’m not a city slicker. One of the best days of my life was being chased by wild dogs in rural Nicaragua while I was looking for a volcanic crater (I suppose it wouldn’t have been one of the best days if they had caught me). I’ve always been fascinated by polar regions and the cold, and traveling to Antarctica has long been a dream of mine. Vote to send me there – and I will entertain and inform you with my blog!
