Musings of Mental Pictures - The Beginning

By Patti Powell   June 24th, 2009 | 7:38 am

The endless dawn of morning, the endless twilight of evening and all those moments in between - each of them a picture frozen in our minds. Can you picture it? A born traveler has many different mental images stored, but it’s never enough. There’s always the question, what’s here? Or there? Then there’s the need to find out. And finally, there’s the need to share. After all, what good is an image that is never shared?

I’ve never been to Antarctica, so haven’t yet gained images to share. Sure, I’ve seen what others have shared, but all it has done has fired the need to go see it myself - to see in 360 with real surround sound. The fire builds, the anticipation heightens, the brain says go and the body wants to follow the brain’s guidance…  Pesky finances - who needs ‘em? Travelers do… and so the fire continues to build. To say I’d be thrilled to have the opportunity would be a gross understatement. This traveler wants to see and experience it all - every last corner - taking advantage of every opportunity - then converting it to word pictures (accompanied by real pics, of course) for all to follow along.

Seasickness? Possibly. Cold? Maybe. Does it matter? Absolutely not. The potential mild negatives don’t even begin to outweigh the enormous positives when weighed on my scale. The blank paper is there - waiting for the light to cause the pictures to be frozen onto it. If you’d vote for me I’d be forever grateful and would be looking forward to sharing the trip with you!
